Wisdoms
(verse 7)
- Money is water to a thirsty wallet
as is college
cocaine for the precocious mind;
as well as the cactus
of Mother Earth’s purse - sucking the water dry.
- Patriotism: Jazz has nothing on the red,
white & blue of rock-n-roll -
yet I would live.
- Jazz music is poetry
with a funky rhythm
and a finger-snapping cadence
and when played with true enthusiastic,
sophisticated spontaneity.
- Nationalism: Nothing has anything on the red,
white & blue of rock-n-roll and jazz
or the blues dare not interfere -
yet I would kill.
- Jazz is dope for the intellectual knowledge fiend, though,
“if you ain’t got that swang” don’t expect to feel high and
doped up, ‘cause it won’t “mean a thang”.
- Charity: The art of bestowing upon a complete
stranger a true smile, true laughter,
real knowledge and a little love without
wanting anything in return.
- The art of knowing what is worth fighting
for, what is worth holding onto and the
ability to do both with integrity still intact.
‘Tis a good thing to persevere; though a
much better thing to have something to
persevere for - truelove for instance.
